Easy big bike ride Sun 7th June

Postby Stewie » Fri May 22, 2015 3:53 pm

Hi all, just a heads up, as an incentive to get the KLR on the road, I will be leading a big bike ride it will be a very easy ride using mainly single track roads and a few of the easier BOAT's will be out all day and we will be using the marker drop off system.
Suitable for 20/80 tyres, but as with any ride on un- surfaced road there is always a chance of dropping your bike,
Starting at Rykers at 1000hrs, so get there for 0940 hrs for a chat and brew. :D
Off the beaten track!.

I'm probably up for this, I'll have to dig out the Africa Twin and dust it off to see what needs doing to get it back on the road first though.

I could be up for this; be an excuse to fire up the Travel Tractor.

I'm not 100% sure of my availability at this stage but will confirm asap.

Hi stewie,

I would love to join the ride but I'm a bit stuck looking after the kids until my wife gets back from her mums, unfortunately that's in Northampton, could I join you along the way, at a lunch stop maybe??

Hi Stewie,

Are you alright taking a newbie along?

I have an 800GS and looking at getting on some lanes. I only live in Epsom so if I find the going to tough I can always head-home tails between my legs.

Thanks

Alex

Your more than welcome Alex as stated it's just an easy day on the back roads and UCRs with a few easy lanes on the way, will be ideal for you.
Just one minor stumbing block at the moment, after prepping the KLR some electrical gremlins have moved in and its just won't fire up......
but I will definitely be there, on what is anyone's guess...

Still plan on turning up... but the lovely Moveitfairies ( you know the ones they can normally be found living in any work place, mine live in the garage where I have a small work area. if you don't know if you have any Moveitfairies just put something down, turn your back and then turn back if said item has vanished you've got Moveitfairies but don't worry they'll put it back when your looking for something else   ) have invited their cousins the Electricalgremlins and they have taken up residence in the KLR just as I was putting the final touches on.
So it's gone down to http://www.braesidemotors.com/ and thanks to Andy for the use of his trailer :D

So back to the run on Sunday, I was going to blag a ride on my friend Toby's new to him KTM640e but there's an issue with coolant getting in the oil, so that's heading to Luke B ( top man for all your mechanical needs :D ), My lad Andrew is coming on his Aprilia Pegaso but there's a slight chance he might be working if that's the case I'll hop on that ;) , if not it will have to be the 525 bit of over kill and the tyres are not that good on metal roads they slide around on the tarmack feels like you have a flat.

As said though, its mainly back roads and a few easy lanes, we'll be heading over to Hindhead and back :D
Off the beaten track!.
