Dear All
You should have all received this by email but if not Simon has asked me to post up...

It's time to sign up!
This year Surrey TRF will be holding their annual mid-summer gathering at
The Frensham Brewery.

In memory of Derek Vansittart (MudeeVee) and in aid of Phyliss Tuckwell. It will be a day of activities with an evening party. Feel free to forward this email to friends and family - there's going to be something for everyone.

The event starts on the evening of Friday 21st so you can arrive any time after 4pm and stay until Sunday afternoon.

Please ensure you arrive in time to sign in before 10.00am on Saturday.
For insurance purposes all participants are required to sign in and receive a briefing.

Self-catering facilities are available on Friday evening or there are local pubs within walking distance.

What’s on:

Trail Riding - Peter
Peter has prepared a selection of routes starting at The Brewery. They are available in advance as a GPX file.
We also have for sale (proceeds to the charity) marked up maps of the Byways. The map covers all the popular Byways and Unclassified roads we know in the wider area. A valuable resource for you to plan your future rides.
Peter will be available with advice on the routes he has planned before you set off. You can also ride your own pre-planned routes around the area.

Mountain Biking – Iain
There will be a non-competitive cycle event taking place across Frensham and surrounding areas. You’ll find a choice of routes aimed at riders of all abilities that are marked on a map. So, bring your family and friends for a great ride out.

Mountain Biking – Andy & Tim
For those more interested in peddle-power than horsepower there is the Naviganza, a mountain bike navigation event, think orienteering on two wheels. This is a timed event that lasts up to 4 hours. Plan your own route to a series of checkpoints where you will be asked to find a landmark, a sign on a tree or a random piece of information. Each checkpoint is worth a certain amount of points. The team with the most points wins!

Walking – Laura, Jared & Tracy
(Come alomg anytime on Saturday if you are just walking)
If two wheels are too serious come and have a gentle stroll around the Frensham ponds. From the brewery a circular saunter around Frensham small pond is around two miles and around Frensham Great pond about five miles. It’s not like walking The Camino!
Steeped in history dating back to the Middle Ages it’s all managed by the National Trust with beautiful views and wildlife. Both have toilets and a cafe.
Bring a friend or make some new ones? Your dog, a picnic if you wish. Bring a chair and stay for evening entertainment. Maybe do the scavenger hunt or the evening quiz!
Weather will be provided by a higher power and will be decided on the day. Don’t forget to bring some change with you, we will be trying to part you from it for the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.
Nearby pubs are ready to welcome you.

Evening Party
Kindly donated by the Surrey TRF committee. The band ‘Loose’ will be performing on Saturday night so bring your dancing shoes (and someone to dance with!)

We also have among many other things a quiz & a scavenger hunt planned, so lots to do.

Sunday morning
Breakfast get together
More trail riding by motor or pedal power. If the weather is nice take a walk to clear the cobwebs.
Sunday bike market – sell your old bike bits
If you have items to sell bring them along - if you don't want the money you can put it in the charity pots.

About the TRF

Established in 1970, the TRF exists to conserve green roads in England and Wales. The Trail Riders Fellowship helps its members to access the countryside by riding responsibly on legal unsurfaced roads.
About Derek
Derek was a true gentleman and a great example of what it means to be part of a fellowship. Always there to assist others, he was a committed member of the TRF and an events organiser extraordinaire. He gladly spent hundreds of hours creating rides for everyone to enjoy and ran the first Longest Day event in 2014.

Why Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice?
Phyllis Tuckwell offer compassionate end of life care to patients and relatives in Surrey & Hampshire. They are a charity, they only get 20% of their funding through the Government & NHS, and therefore they are heavily reliant on voluntary donations. Derek spent his last four days in their care where the nurses worked tirelessly to make him more comfortable and support the family - their love, care and attention was truly incredible.

I can’t come but I would like to make a donation.

Can you help at the event?
This is going to be as good as we all make it so if you’re willing to help in any way please let us know

Stewie

Thanks that’s great. I’m checking in with the organisers. One run leader has dropped out today so quite possibly. Will get back to you.

Everyone else

You should all have had an email with details but if not... the event is on and is this weekend and should be great so see you there!

Steven

Hi All
A massive thank you to all who came and made this such a great day and night.
We raised over £700 and there’s a bit more to come in. Thank you also to those who helped and also those who led on the day.
It was also a great piece of PR for the TRF.
