hi- this from 'on high' , it is not a proposal, it is already a Directive, and has to be implemented in some form. But it has to be stopped. Cheers, bc
Dear All
Help us save UK Motorsport
Following the landmark ‘Vnuk’ case, the European Court of Justice has ruled that national laws must be changed to ensure that all mechanically propelled vehicles are insured for third-party losses regardless of type of use, in all places, at any time.
This applies to everything from Formula One racing cars, to mobility scooters, to antique trams and everything in-between (obviously includes all forms of motorcycle sport).
The UK Government opened a consultation on Wednesday 21st December, seeking views on two proposed ways forward. You can read more here: http://www.fightvnuk.co.uk.
So how can you help? We have started a petition asking that HM Government under no circumstances implements the 'Vnuk' judgement in a way that encompasses vehicles involved in motor and motorcycle sport activities.
Website: http://www.fightvnuk.co.uk
Petition: http://bit.ly/2i6Cgsf
Can I ask you please to sign the petition to show the Government the strength of support we have in Motorcycle sport and then please disseminate this email as far and as wide as you can to all the Membership and likewise encourage all our Licence Holders and anyone you know who rides motorcycles/enjoys the sport as a competitor/official/spectator to sign the petition.
Kind regards
Gary

Brian, this is concerning, I will look to get a view from TRF Directors on what they make of this and what they propose to do. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Vnuk Directive, read, act and and share,
At ant time.
Hmm, so that would include non roadworthy and possibly incomplete or unrideable classic bikes, even for static display.
This sounds like the insurance companies Christmases have all come at once !

John,
Insurance companies have made it very clear that they do not want this to happen. They have made it clear that they will/can not offer insurance policies for a selection of the vehicles that the law would effect.
(This coming from an insurance broker by profession)
I do agree with aspects of the new law, (Mobility scooter, electric push bikes, tractors ect) but of course disagree with others (Motor sport, sorn'd vehicles ect)
It all depends on how anal the gov go, technically speaking the law reads any motorised vehicles used for its intended function, this would encompass ride on lawn motors, childrens electric cars and some other rather ridicules items. This law has been a long time coming and only time will tell how it evolves.
