Getting back in the the saddle

Postby Caesi01 » Sat Jul 03, 2021 8:38 pm

hi Surrey TRF

I would love to get back into riding but I don't know how to get going again.
My main thought is that I would like to be on a lightweight 250 or 350cc but I live in SE London and need to be able to comfortably get out to the lanes and back.
Previously, I had a GSA but sold it after I had it nicked too many times which put me off owning a bike all together.

Any suggestions are are more than welcome how to get started again.

If you're doing a fair bit of road work to get to the trails, then you probably want a 4-stroke trail (not enduro) bike, the downside being that it's not going to be the lightest. e.g. Honda CRF300L, Husky 701,
But, unless you've got somewhere secure to store a bike then it's just going to get nicked.

The alternative is if you have a van, then the world is your oyster, when it comes to selecting a bike.

This month's TRF magazine is a good read, since there are at least 3 4-stroke suitable trail bikes mentioned.
Beta Xtrainer 300
Honda CRF230F
ex-Kawasaki KDX220R (now sold to a fellow TRF Member)

thank you for the fast replies.
London is just not the place to own a bike
Unfortunately, no van for me.
