Rekluse Clutch Advice

Postby actonktm » Sat Mar 21, 2015 6:49 am

Thinking of buying a Rekluse clutch to help my riding can anybody recommend them?

Also, who should I trust to fit it if I do decided to go for it.

Thanks

Mm mm Recluse are a bit of a marmite thing. Those that have tried them, love em. Those that have not, hate them!

I had one on the CRF for a while. I quite enjoyed it. As the Tickover on the bike was unreliable (used to hunt), the bike would creep.
If you get one, get the latest version and fit it yourself

Take it to Luke for fitting. I fitted my own but could not get it to work properly and took it back out

If your new to trail riding, a bit more time practicing clutch control would be a better bet :) Hope your booked into the Training day!

My mate has a Husky 310 that came with one fitted. His opinion ? they are great for some things but not so great on others. Some issues are...

If you start the bike without realising it's in gear and give it a good rev it will be off on it's own.
Get too lazy with selecting the right gear and you'll kill the clutch plates very quickly.
Spend any amount of your riding getting bogged down in mud or sand and you'll kill the clutch plates very quickly.
No engine breaking.

That kind of money could be better spend on getting suspension and fueling properly sorted.

If they were any real advantage, all the "Enduro Gods" would be using them.

Who would you recommend for suspension and fueling

http://www.drshox.co.uk/ managed to get my DRZ E to handle brilliantly and I have ridden a couple of KTMs, a GasGas and a Husky 310 (the one with the rekluse) that Chris has worked his magic on and they have all been superb. His admin is patchy at best and don't rely too much on a fast delivery but the small bit of hassle is more than compensated for by the vast improvement in ride and handling. I think around £400 will service, re-valve and spring both ends and about £250 if your spring rates are OK. You'll have a bit of carriage each way on that.

I have used PDQ at Taplow a few times in the past to get carbs set up and have always been very pleased with the results.
