Small off road bike

After some advice/suggestions

Friend of ours wants to get a bike to come Green Laning with us but she is only 5ft so seat height is a real problem
One suggestion was a Kawasaki KX85 (but would have to make it road legal) and probably a pain on the road

Any other idea's welcome

Freeride.
KX85 would be awful. Lots of bikes are able to have lowering links fitted and you could cut seat foam down to get another couple of inch's lower.

Yamaha Serow would be a good bet. No longer made but some second hand ones available. Brian has one, can put you in touch.

big nose had a serow and had lots of trouble as it is a heavy bike for its size and gutless with it.
As sausage says a free ride is a good bet.

Yes agree a freeride is a great bike too, I had the privilege of having a go on one and it brought the biggest smile to my face, and its very easy to ride.
Downside is they cost a packet, and I'm not convinced that they're all that reliable. Derek Chopper is the man to ask.

Have a look at the AJPs. I think one of the PR3s would be ideal

The AJP PR3 is a unique bike, thanks to it's smaller wheels and reduced height chassis design, the PR3 could be considered a 3/4 size bike, ideal for shorter in the leg riders or for those that just prefer a smaller bike for increased confidence.

Great recommendation, very light and well built bikes - I've had 2 (of the larger ones) and I can't fault them.

Thanks for all the input chaps, agree Freeride would be a great choice but too new so out of her budget, the AJP is a good shout been around a bit longer and a bit cheaper, hopefully will find something soon

In my view, finding a suitable bike for a rider of 5' is a major challenge. Freeride is way too high. Even a Serow is pushing it. Sorry to be blunt but I think she's going to struggle. Might be an ideal pillion passenger though!

Sorry, can't agree.

Start with a small(ish) bike, soften up the suspension to match rider's weight, re-shape seat a bit (narrower helps) that should sort it.

Even if the rider can't get both feet flat on the deck, it doesn't stop them riding off tarmac to good effect; I have ridden with many people who "aren't tall enough to ride an enduro bike". We had a run leader in France who was 5ft nowt with his boots on and he rode a GasGas 300.

A Yamaha Serrow or Honda CRF230 are low bikes.. usually reliable..
