Hi guys,
Been a while since I've had a bike before my Gasgas. Last time I have a bike a had a "normal" carb with the little gold coin like disk in the middle that would rotate to let fuel in ect ect.
I've just stripped my bike down amd completely stripped and cleaned out my card this afternoon and it's got this silver block that goes up and down in instead. Are these better or worse ect?

Is it running any better ? Have you checked the boot between the carb and the airbox for a split/any leaks. Is the airscrew on the carb set ok. Did you pm LukeB on here to ask what jets/needle he would recommend . Not sure if this would affect it but is the rubber o ring on your exhaust ok, don`t think that would make any difference though. My favourite is still an air leak somewhere, is your air filter good ?

I think you're probably asking how does a flat slide carb compare to a a CV (constant velocity) carb.

The Gas Gas ec 300, uses Keihin PWK 38 carb. This is a pretty standard carb, used by Gas Gas, KTM, Beta etc etc.

Parts are available, as are cleaning materials! Strip it, clean it (offer still stands of an ultra-sonic clean if you want), look for wear/faults/problems. Replace dodgy bits, put it back together and tune it. Not a biggy really - fairly sure LukeB will tune it if you ask him nicely and cross his palm with silver.

I stripped it all down on the weekend and gave it a good clean. got a fine bit of metal through all the jets and spaces to check there was no dust in there. It's improved the response time of acceleration and its started a hell of a lot quicker. However, still not idling perfectly.
I have asked lukeb which needle ect would be best so will have a look when he lets me know.

However, there is a small hole in the bottom of my air box, the hole from how it looks is meant to be there. Assuming to allow any excess water to drain out?

I will probably take you up on that offer Derick after i know which needle i should have ect.

Which side of the air filter is the little hole in the airbox? The carb should not be drawing in un-filtered air.

It's at the bottom of the box so after the foam so it's not drawing in unfiltered air
