Beta Clutch Mod

Postby Mouseman » Sun Feb 26, 2017 6:35 pm

Found this mod on the Betarider forum.
Seems to work well, cheap and easy.
I used M6 stainless washers bought on eBay £1 for 10, 1.6 mm thick
Fitted in about 20 mins.
Works on X trainers and RR models.

After breaking my hand pretty badly a few years ago ive got a fused and pretty weak index finger. I was looking at getting the larger slave or even going down the Rekluse route (too expensive for the Beta). This is just the sort of ghetto mod I've been looking for. I'll be trying this out on my 300rr. Cheers for posting.

No problem mate, I meant to measure the pull before and after, but forgot.
I reckon it's 10-15% lighter.

Not bad for a quid....

Hi,

As a fellow Xtrainer owner I'd like to give this mod a go. Do you need to replace the gasket behind the clutch cover or is it a rubber type gasket that should re-seal with a little bit of gasket goo on it?

Cheers,

Peter.

Peter

On the RR it's an o ring, reusable to a point, and I assume it's the same for the XT.

Just be careful when retightening the bolts, they are only nipped up.
Take note when you undo them.
