NEW FORUM CALENDAR for rides

Postby Dave » Wed Mar 27, 2013 10:50 am

I've been debating with myself if this might be useful or not and would like to know what you lot think. If it's a popular idea I will try to implement it.

Basically it would be a way of displaying all of the events or proposed rides which get posted onto the forum for discussion.

When someone creates a new event or a ride it can be linked to the calendar for quick reference by all of our members.

Something like this...

Good idea, how/where would you display it?

Not sure yet dude. Lets see if I can actually get it working first. I've been working on it today, you may have noticed the forum a bit glitchy at times as I was restarting webservices.

Where ever I put it I will try to be smart about t.

Is this not a bit superfluous?

All of those that have smartphones (which must be in the high 90%) have a calendar facility. Those that work in offices have Outlook that will sync with their smartphone

Call me organised if you want, but when I see a run on the forum that I want to join, I request a space and insert that in my personal calendar. Easy

I. like many others on the site appreciate what you have done Dave, but I feel you are wasting your time on something that will only be used for a short time after its introduction. Your time would be better spent trying to clear some of the porn off my PC

You are probably right. I'd feel bad for the 10% who might be voting haha

If the calendar does seem impractical due to technical reasons and lack of interest I could be persuaded to leave it be.

I agree that having all the proposed rides in one place is the way to go.

Is 'Rides and Meets' not 'one' place?

Will this be another hoop to jump through for those that lead rides....

Sorry, by one place I meant have all listed in chronological order. Yes Rides and Meets is one place but they are arranged in the order they get replies. I assume that it will be easier for leaders to open the calendar up and see what days are available/not taken than trying to piece together all the relevant topics. That is basically what I meant.
