Body Armour

Postby NigelC » Wed Jul 03, 2019 2:42 pm

Having only ever used an old Hein Gericke textile road bike suit up to now, I've been thinking about getting something a little better, plus something that I could use when doing Trials practice.

I've finally plumped for the Knox action shirt, which has soft armour in shoulders, elbows and back, along with Knox flex lite knee guards, which have just arrived from Sportsbikeshop today.

I know, I know, no chest protector; a bit of a cost trade-off there. Anyway, I'll post a report once I've used it - seems comfy over a tee-shirt and the knee guards easily go under regular trousers.

I'm sure it'll be just fine. I've been using a Forcefield XV, but it's too hot in the summer, so just use a front and rear roost protection with elbow guards for my upper body.

I guess there is no correct kit and I fall off all the time green laining.
I prefer hardshell padded mesh jersey, hard shell knee pads because of slow speed hitting rocks and branches, not sure how well impact foam intended for road works.
Motocross trousers with leather heat pads because of the exhaust pipe, cycling underwear with padding, motocross boots with hiking boot soles.
Then depending on weather, motocross jersey, old motorcycle textile jacket or cheap raincoat and pants.
I avoid anything made from cotton because it collects rain and sweat instead of draining it away from the body.

If any one is looking for any body armour I have a mesh/hardshell jacket made by 661 size XL to sell.

Very little use and in very good condition 30.00.

I also have a pair of unused Forcefield elbow sleeves size L for 15.00.
