Grease recommendations after bike cleaning

Postby MuddySully » Tue Sep 13, 2016 2:14 pm

Hi,
Looking for recommendations for re-greasing the wheel spindle and bearings area as well as the brake caliper pistons after cleaning my bike.
So far I have looked at a few forums and they refer to a "Red rubber" grease for the caliper pistons, to be applied after a good clean. Any recommendations or thoughts on this.
And a white marine grease for the spindle and wheel bearings. I realise that the wheel bearings are sealed so this is only really to be used as a water repellent to be applied on the spindle and around the seals after cleaning, again any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks Steve,
I did a bit more investigation and got marine grease for the spindle and wheel bearings. I just packed this in the gap between the seal and the bearing. Got some red rubber grease for the caliper pistons, which washed off anyway.
Cheers

Bellray waterproof grease normal does the trick on all pins bushes and bearings and engine oil on spindles as it stays quite free even in colder weather if you need to get them out.
