Lighting Stator Rewind -

Afternoon all

Just wanted to report that I have successfully rewound the Lighting Stator on my KDX. The stock output was woeful and couldn't output sufficient power to drive the headlamp and taillamps, simultaneously, for decent visibilty.

I followed a thread on and from start to finish (after I had the 18ga wire in), it took about 120 minutes from being on the bike, to off the bike, unwound, rewound, soldered and back on the bike for testing.

Meaningful upgrade which will enable a full MOT, once I mount Banjo-bolt switches on front and rear brakes.

wow - respect!! I'd always assumed this was a highly specialised job - I recently sent my Gas Gas Pampera stator off to a guy who advertises on eBay, to have it rewound. Think it cost me around £90

It took me back to the late '70s Physics in High School and Electromagnetic Theory. Not rocket science, but basically creating an electromagnetic field, used to generate electricity... ... nd-how-to/
