What a great day, perfect company, perfect weather and lots of muddy lanes...

A big thanks to Derek! You were a massive help with the navigation. It has been much easier to see the lanes in my mind, when looking at the map.

I had a great day pottering around the Surrey Hills and I will certainly do this again in the not too distant future. It was great meeting Mike and Paul from Kent - please come up again soon and I will take you up on the offer of a trip down the Kentish lanes in the new year. Hopefully Coldharbour made up for Ride Lane.

The day was only slightly marred by being wiped out on the way home. :x A piece of Leatherhead tarmac will always be with me! The bike, and my barkbusters did a great job of tearing up the road. No major breaks on bike or me luckily! ;)

No battle scars to show off this time (well some little scratches and bruises). My boots were great! Had I been in my road gear I think it would have been much worse. The bike is a tough little thing - one broken foot peg and that was that.

Hi, Glad to hear you had no serious injury to report.

In relation to the pic, where is that taken from? I have ridden (and run) Wolvens Lane to Leith Hill a few times but only recall seeing an open view like that from the south side of close to the top of Leith Hill.

Also, what is the current problem with Ride Lane?

Thanks,
NJ

Thank you. They have obviously cleared some of the trees etc. on the lefthand side since I was up there. Or, perhaps I was concentrating so hard and staring fixedly straight ahead out of fear of falling off that I didn't notice the views!

Ride Lane was very slippy (for me it was!). At the start of the lane as your coming from the green it is very cut up with some big steps to jump over. There seemed to be a lot of logs / tree trunks in the ruts. Is this usual? I know the lane is covered by trees.

GBru - My off was due to a guy in a car pulling a u turn in front of me, if thats what you meant by slippy surface. He just didn't see me!
We didn't really see a soul on Saturday. No MTB's, a few horses and a lone dog. Very quiet, which was good! :D
