It would be great to get a few more runs on the Forum, and some more people giving leading a go, so that new members and beginners can get out. As ever there are only a few regulars who lead runs.
For naviagtion, I've found the OS MapFinder iPhone app works a treat. It is very easy to plan a route, and then easy to follow. I think I spent about £20 or so on map tiles for all the local area, but once purchased you have them for good, and mine just updated themselves. Hindhead on my pre-tunnel paper map used to mess with my head.

I use a waterproof shockproof Ultimate Addons holder to mount my old iPhone 4 onto the handlebars.

And I've set up a USB port wired to my battery to keep the iPhone battery topped up.
In the past I've made up A4 laminate map sheets which work well too, they take a bit more prep but are better than a map as you don't have to keep getting it out / folding it up.... The iPhone/GPS has the advantage of showing you where you are.
There are loads of different set ups, different things work for different people.
If anyone want me to show you what works for me, or the OS MapFinder app or map laminates then just give me a shout, I can share this at club night. Also happy to take people out to try leading, to build a bit of confidence. If there are a few people interested we can do another map reading ride where you take turns to lead a route.
