Dear All
Three positive twinkles of light, in relation to all of the temporary closures in Hampshire:
1. Regards the Upton / Tunworth five lanes end temporary closure: (http://www3.hants.gov.uk/pnadetail?noticeUID=3321)
I've just posted up a reply from HCC - see here: https://surreytrf.gigatech.co.uk/viewto ... 099#p10654
The works are taking longer, however it does appear that they are actively trying to get the route fixed, and they have invited TRF input into deciding how to manage it going forwards, which is welcome. I am planning on letting Tony of the Lodden Vale TRF on this one and I will stay closely in touch with him.
2. Temporary closures only for duration of works
In relation to the Preston Candover BOAT 9 closure - HCC have said: "We are confident that the nature of this route and the type of repair that we have been able to implement will sustain future vehicular use without having an detrimental impact on other users. On this occasion the temporary closure has therefore only been necessary for the duration of the works". So I am expecting that route will be open for use again. Also there is another route where they are doing some works which is only going to be shut for 5 days - this is Ellisfield BOAT 12 (http://www3.hants.gov.uk/pnadetail?noticeUID=3718). (I'm not sure if the is the same as what HCC referred to Ellisfield BOAT 13).
3. Bentworth permits scheme - opening up of Bentworth BOAT 23 and Wield BOATs 19 & 20
I've not had any official notification from HCC on this, but the latest notice on their website states "PERIOD OF CLOSURE: From 13 November 2014 until 30 November 2014, at which time an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order will come into effect." (http://www3.hants.gov.uk/pnadetail?noticeUID=3711)
I am presuming that that means those of us who have permits will be able to use them.
If you don't have your Hampshire permit yet then go to this link and click on the permits tab (look carefully, its at the top of the box). http://www3.hants.gov.uk/row/vehicles-row.htm. While you're there make sure you read, and follow, the guidance on "What is meant by ‘responsible behaviour’ for motorised users?".
Thanks
Steven
