Hampshire County Council acknowledge receipt of your objection for the extension of the temporary traffic regulation order of Grayshott Byway Open to All Traffic (BOAT) 13.
This route was closed in 2013 following a number of reports from the public about the hazardous nature of the route and site inspections by officers that confirmed that the route in its present state was not suitable for use by all legal users. Due to its very steep nature It was therefore closed on health and safety grounds.
In the interim months funding to repair the route was obtained and we have appointed a contractor, to implement these repairs. The work on Grayshott 13 comprises part of a larger package of works on BOATs in East Hampshire and I am happy to confirm that work on the first of these BOATs began 2 weeks ago. The works on Grayshott 13 are due to commence on 27th July 2015 and are scheduled to last 2 weeks. This date is subject to change.
Following completion of these works there will be a period of time when the BOAT (and the other BOATs as part of this package of works – Worldham 40 and Selborne 67) will remain closed to allow the surface to settle. We will then commence a staggered opening in order to monitor the effects of different types of traffic on the repaired surface , similar to that that was implemented on the BOATs at Bentworth and Wield. Running concurrently we will also be undertaking a public consultation exercise on the future management of these routes.
We thank you for your interest.
Regards
Alison
