Hi everyone
My names Jeanette and I have caught the bug of riding trails!
I had a 1 day experience (my husband has been a few tins before) and loved it, we came home and signed up with BT4TW byways tour..about 8 days from just below scotland to Devon on mostly byways!
Now I am excited, nervous, and thinking I must be mad... I haven't even got a bike yet and then I need to get fit and get some practice!
I need to find a bike for a short legged novice, I am thinking 125 as hoping they would be smaller and lighter.. Any suggestions please
Hello and advice pls

Hi Jeanette, what sort of bike are you after, new or second hand ? Looking at the route your doing I would stay away from 2 smokes, but then that leaves the options of mid-range adventure type bike or smaller cc duel purpose bike.
As Charlie says the Yamaha XT225/250cc Serrow's are great bit's of kit, also in that group have a look at Kawasaki KL250 Sherpa ( quite rare in the UK ) and KLX range, and the AJP's as you suggested the 125cc are often over looked, due to their 11bhp but must will do 65mph and more than capable on the trails, with good mpg, reliable engines.
The mid range adv bikes, look at the like of BMW G and F 650 GS most bike will have some sort of lowering kit available.
Just a few mods made this 04 plate XR125l trail ready, now sold on to another TRF member and still going strong.

Please post up any questions you may have along your way to a bike.

Hi Jeanette,
I have a Yamaha Serow which I may part company with at the end of March.
It will have brand new Michellin AC10's on it by then and you're welcome to come and have a look etc at that point if you can wait until then.
Reason for sale: New toy expected early April.....exciting!!!
Let me know.
Cheers.

As well as the Serow, I would look at the AJP PR3 model - incredible value new and very under rated as a trail bike.

or the slightly larger AJP PR4 200cc which one will be available around the end of March.
