hi
I have just joined this forum and wanted to introduce myself.
Currently riding a GSA, but the bike has not seen anything else but tarmac and even then, mostly the london commuting type.
Are there any other members riding the lanes (or some type off-road) on a GSA or is it just a crazy idea?
I am based in SE London

Re: Newbie
Hello and welcome, there's only a few lanes that would trouble a GSA, a lot depends on what's on the wheels and the seat, just don't take it out if you don't want to drop it.

Hi,
Welcome to the TRF.
There are other "hardy" souls that ride big bikes, keep your eyes open for a big bike ride on the forum, or request a leader to take you out, we have a specific area of forum for trequesting leaders.
Also have a look at the New members info sheet on the New members info area, lots of useful stuff for you.
If you havent got decent tyres, I would recommend waiting till it dries out a bit more.

Re: Newbie
Greetings & welcome from a fellow newbie.
I ride a GSA 12 but only on the road, as it's my only road bike and I'm not going to destroy it off roading!!!
My KTM 400 exc is my off roader....and truly marvellous it is too

thanks for the welcomes.
Kind of less worried about dropping it, more about picking it up again. But obviously am still undecided, as it is a big and expensive beast. however, one would think it has enough protection around it to withstand any drops. after all, it is supposed to be able to do any type of riding (whether the same can be said about the rider.. ).

Whatever you take onto the lanes will most likely end up scratched scuffed and dented before long. So if you aren't going to get upset when the inevitable happens then go for it and give it a go.

Hello AGAIN,
finally got around and signed up fully to the TRF, as I think it's a great cause.
Just done an offroad course in Wales and absolutely loved it. All on a GS.
Thus, if anyone on here takes his/her big bike out, I'd be interested to hear.

Where abouts do you head to?
I'm still getting the bike ready with better tyres, thinking of Anakee Wild
