Potential newbie...
Seasons greetings! - lapsed roadie here
Glory days were burning up the Surrey streets on a TS185 and a coffin tanked RD250E..... oh happy days! The bikes were replaced by an estate car, mortgage etc. (same old, same old). In the Surrey Hills often on the mtb but want to get some thrills going uphill for a change! Went to Wales recently for two days trail riding on a TE250 & DRZ450 and loved every minute. Going to book a day’s riding at Dorking with ‘Offthekerb’ which I hope will give me some experience of green laning in the area as well as trying out a CRF250. Was thinking of an older pre-Y2K TTR250 as a bit of a project or maybe something newer in that size. All being well hope to meet up with some of you in the New Year. Happy Christmas everyone ....mine’s a dirt bike Santa if you’re listening!

The day finally arrived (Sat 18th Jan) and I got on to ‘the lanes’ at last with three other intrepid newbies and Pete & Fred from ‘off the kerb’. What a brilliant day we had, weather was perfect, uber muddy and the rain held off which was great but we all got soaked anyway. I can’t recommend ‘Off the Kerb’ highly enough if you’re a newbie like me, without a bike and want some expert guidance on the lanes before you leap in!
I was hoping we might catch sight of a few TRF riders and sure enough met GTCODAVE and company opposite the cricket pav near top of Leith Hill who promptly pulled over for a chat. Great to meet you both. Going to book a couple of more days with them and maybe a few in Wales and then hopefully get hold of a bike. The CRF250L we rode on the day felt great and would probably be more comfortable between trails but probably not as capable as say a WR250 or TE250 in the tough stuff. Anyways, looking forward to getting out with you guys one day!

It was good bumping into your group.
Off The Kerb seemed like a good ouytit for getting involved in dirt riding. I nearly choked at the price but that probably because its free for me ti go out when i want.
Regardless, friendly chaps and would be nice to see them on some of our rides
