Its similar, mine has no zip, you pull it on like a smock. Its designed as an over jacket. I'm still looking for a good breathable light weight gortex jacket.
Army gortex over trousers are good and cheap; and some people use the matching jackets.

That army stuff is so cheap its expendable. I was going to use one but ended up getting a 12 quid Regatta top which is waterproof and breathable. Its not Goretex but i think it uses the same technology. It rolls uo into its own pocket at going in your bag nice

I'm off to the shops tomorrow all I need to complete my outfit is waterproof trousers, do you recommend that I need knee guards? if anyone is planning a ride locally any time after the 10th I be there as im so looking forward to my first ride.

Yes to knee guards. Also body armor helps keep a smile on your face when you come off.

been shopping today at the KTM centre at Hemel Hempstead and bought knee guards and waterproof trousers I now have every think to get on the lanes..

how local are you? what day you going Dover as im busy Saturday or are you going for the whole weekend and why Dover is there good lanes out that way, how often do you go out around Dorking. will be up for the next ride out.

We get out a few times a month normally dorkin lanes
We are based in woodside / Elmer's end
The trip to Dover is Sunday a friend with the kent green laners has invited us down for the day to sample there lanes

I'll have to miss out the Dover run but let me know when your out next doing a Dorking ride out as its been a month since ive been out. im looking to buy a bike trailer so I can venture further out with the TRF.
