Matt,

Welcome to the forum and welcome to a fellow TE rider! There are a few Huskateers around now.

Do bear in mind that you have just bought a enduro bike and not a trail bike. If you have any mechanical sympathy then you will want to ride it on the road as little as possible and not be cruising at any more than 50mph. These bikes have a very short gearbox and rev quite high.
You do need to keep on top of the maintenance and will need to change the oil and filters about every 30 hours. I don't want to put you off but high road miles on a small capacity enduro bike makes for a short engine life.

Having said that, great choice of bike, I love mine, very easy to ride and very rewarding.

Thanks for the advice Kev,

I need to familiarise myself with the required maintenance regime. I have to admit that I haven't been that mechanically inclined in the past. How often do you need to adjust the valve clearance?

Do you know if there's a workshop manual or a Haynes publication for husky TEs?

Cheers

Matt,

No problem on the advice. Which year TE do you have?

Mine is a 2007 model, valve shims get checked every 100 hours. I have mine done by Bruce Paice, who is a mobile mechanic and ex Husqvarna guy. Good service and very reasonable prices.

There is a pretty good Husky handbook available which is about £10.00, you can get one from Husky Sport (01962 771122) also good for spares and advice.

Hope to see you on a ride soon.

I have a 2008 TE250 and it is definitely an offroad bike!

You can pick up a DVD version of the service manual on eBay for about £5. Can be a bit of a pain to scroll through looking for the page you want but you can pdf print pages when needed.
