How tight are the sections on this ?

i.e. trials bike tight, or manageable on say a KTM EXC-F ?

I'm tempted to enter on an old classic bike, but no point if everything is too tight.

John, I haven't done this LDT before, however there's a good selection of YouTube vids out there to review. Just search for RNND LDT. I've based my entry on these and discussions at the club meet.
As usual I'm expecting the shock of underestimating the technicality of the sections, but still looking forward to it.
Peter.

John/Peter,

You will be fine on your bikes on this event.

Most of the local LDT type events like the Nomads 3 stage, RRND, Witley 100 and Timber Woods are biased towards Trail/Enduro bikes and none of the sections are super tight. Most of the entry for last years RRND were on Trail or Enduro's so you will certainly get through all the sections without too much trouble.

This event is very nice and takes in most of the local lanes, although it goes a little further south this year, along with some private land and the fun of the sections. It will also be a good practice for you before the Nomads 3 Stage Trial on the 23 April! More on that on another thread.

FYI, I had this in from one of the organisers today:

RRND Long Distance trial is on the 9th April there are about 20 places left if you've not yet entered.

Start is at Dunsfold and the 98 mile route takes in Hindhead Common, Frensham Common, Puttenham, Winterfold, Shere, Ranmore, Leith Hill, etc.

Entry form on RRND website.

So, if you have not yet ridden a LDT here is your chance to ride one quite literally on our doorstep! Enjoy!

This is a good event and should be even better this year with a new route and some very nice private land for the opening and closing sections. All the sections will be very rideable on a trail/enduro bike and the road book/navigation is always good.

I will be observing some of the sections at this years RRND, so will be looking out for you TRF guys.

It promises to be a great event again and will be a good warm up for the Nomads event on 23rd.

If you don't want to ride it but fancy helping out, I know they are short of marshall and observers. Give me a shout via PM and I will put you in touch.

Entries for this event close in 48 hours if you still fancy it.

The route is 97 miles long with sections on 3 pieces of private land (Dunsfold, Hook Woods and Beare Ghyll near Ockley) as well as many of the lanes we are familiar with including Hindhead, Toebreak, Ride Lane and London Lane.

Currently there are 84 riders taking part.

Gavin and I will be observing at Toebreak and Ride Lane and later at Beare Ghyll so if you've entered I'll see you on Sunday.

If you're entered post up your number and I'll say hello.
Cheers,
Murray.
