I'll sing the praises of the trusty old Dee Arr Zee all day long (but then I have two of the bloody things) Cheap to buy and cheap to keep on the road. They have been known to happily do over 40,000 miles without any major issues and I could probably sell my "E" for a couple of hundred quid less than I paid for it eight years ago.
Not a race bike by any means (although mine has done many an enduro and even hooned around an MX track a few times) but bloody good for what we use them for. Yes, they're tall and lardy but I try not to fall off mine too much.
My "S" took me down through France and into Spain last year for the Pyrekneesup. Just about 3,000 trouble-free miles.
If I really had to buy a gay orange bike, I'd go for the EXC 450 and get the suspension set up by Dr Shox. I did a couple of hours trail-riding on my mate's in Wales and it was sweeeet.
Rode the new 350 around Nellie's and didn't get on with it; don't know why, on paper it should be ideal. Two boys in Southern group have them and are very happy although one did go pop at about 15 hours. KTM warranted the parts but not the labour for a pretty much full rebuild. (ouch !!!)
I've seen the KTM 200 stinkwheel used to great effect and those I've met who ride them, swear by them. I had a thrash on a GasGas EC200, that was a good crack too but a bit ickle for me.
I suppose it depends what you want from a bike; most trail-riders are well over-biked. A TTR or XR250 will do all you ask of them and more.
If I had the pennies, a new GasGas smoker would be in my stable. They're soo pretty.
I'd probably hang on to the tractor though.

Thanks all for the advice. Not much interest in the G450X so maybe stuck with it for a while.
