In urgent need of a REAR WHEEL for my XR 400.
Failed MOT on a wheel bearing. Stripped it down to find some muppet has previously seized a bearing ruining the housing then fitted a new bearing into the now slack hole and got it to pass an MOT??????
Checking Ebay where you usually can't move for XR wheels, when you want one.......nothing.
Looks like I'll have to miss the upcoming Lee Walters weekend if I can't find one in time.
Dave.

Re: XR400 REAR WHEEL
Might be quicker and cheaper to refurbish the wheel

Re: XR400 REAR WHEEL
Had considered that too, Dave but with milling out the bearing housing possibly weakening the hub and the potential problems finding an oversize bearing to fit I decided to try and hunt down a replacement wheel (or parts bike?). My trigger finger's poised over the 'buy it now' button ready.
I'm also investigating the possibility of welding a new layer of material inside the housing and machining the housing out back to standard.

Definitions: 'Refurbish'
verb
(transitive) to make neat, clean, or complete, as by renovating, re-equipping, or restoring to original standard.
