New bike

Postby phil.hughes1983 » Fri Sep 05, 2014 8:11 pm

Off to have a look at a ktm 300exc tomorrow and just wondering if anyone is using one for a trail bike.

I have heard that they are very tuneable and I really fancy a 2t before all the eu laws ban them completely.

I understand that they are juicy on fuel but there are options with bigger tanks etc.

When I get this I will be looking into doing some events also.

Cheers phil

Plenty of peeps trail ride a 300 smoker, sort out the jetting and they can be fairly economical, wack a big tank on and you could easily do 130 miles on one tank.

Doesn't sound like the jetting is a problem Phil! How's the fuel consumption?

Fuel consumption is high but possibly normal after reading other peoples reviews. I got 40 miles before hitting reserve. I was riding with a bit of gas as it's a new toy and we all get carried away. I have adjusted the float level slightly as think it may be slightly rich

Give Luke Bull a shout on here - he knows his onions on setting these up.

Very nice, definately get yourself a bigger tank, means you can have fun without the worry.

You should be doing nearly double that mileage on a tank of fuel.
Float height has nothing much to do with fuel consumption.
