Trail riding holidays

Postby RSTMatt » Thu Jan 24, 2013 8:40 pm

Has anyone been on a trail riding holiday (apart from the vince)?

Something like this, http://www.torotrail.com/

Any recommendations?

Matt

Hi Matt
A few of us used Toro-Trails a couple of years ago and felt the weekend was a complete waste of time.
Mixed group of 19 mostly novices
Miles and Miles of twin track followed by miles and miles of roadwork
Choking on dust all day because of the group size.
Gutless Yamaha 250's
Run leader complete Twat, encouraging people to have a go riding firebreaks (1000 Euro fine)
Generally not much fun, even Trevor became irritated with the Guy and ended up falling out with him.
Trev's one of the easiest going blokes I know.

We went just before Christmas and used these guys

A good time was had by all and reasonably priced. They use KTM 250's and keep the group to 6.
I've ridden in Spain a few times now and prefer the North for Trail Riding, imagine Wales on adrenaline, without the rain but with snow capped mountains.
It's actually a well kept secret but Northern Spain is Trailbike Heaven. We've taken the bikes in a Van on the Ferry to Bibao and spent a whole week there a couple of times now. If you're a capable rider there is so much there, and if you use a local Tour guide you'll be on the dirt all day (The same can be said for Southern Spain)
This Guy (Jesus, he only speaks Spanish) has given us some awesome weekends and reasonable too. Les and Adrian nearly drank his Hotel dry and he threw the beer in to the original price!!

He uses a selection of KTM 250 2stroke and 450 4stroke bikes and keeps the group size down.
