Hi All,
I'm renewing my insurance and looking for a multibike policy (I still have my old xt350 and want to get her rolling again) however Bikesure were asking a lot for an additional bike so I've been looking around.
Bennettes on the other hand do a pretty good 3rd PFT multibike policy online which I like the look of. trouble is they don't mention Green-Laning or Unsurfaced roads specifically. I'm inclined not to mention it for all the usual reasons (they are legal roads etc) but I was wondering if anyone had run into problems with insurers by not explicitly explainfing their bike was going to be used for green laning?
Also as the TRF is affiliated to the BMF (iirc) do we get the same club privileges when it comes to insurance?
Many thanks,
Paul Mc

Re: Insurance
Green lanes are roads, just unmade, and so this shouldn't cause a problem with the insurance? Riding enduros might be a different thing, but a lot of the lanes we go to get the 4x4's down them

Re: Insurance
Bennetts, Carol Nash and Direct line all do multi-bike policies. Just tell them the bike make and model, where it is kept etc. Never had any problems until I tried to insure the X Trainer which was not on their list of bikes. Before then I was paying 170 pounds for a Tiger, an FE390 and an EXC200, fully comp

Re: Insurance
Thanks guys, that was the line I was planning on taking; Just road-legal insurance.
I only need 3rd Party F&T and I won't be doing enduros or competitive riding.
What about any discounts from being Affiliated to BMF; do we count as members of the BMF for this purpose?
All the best,
Paul Mc

Re: Insurance
Paul,
Have you considered a separate policy for each bike? In my experience multi-bike policies only become cost effective with 3+ bikes.
Insuring a similar bike to yours cost me around £60 not too long ago even with zero NCD (you can't use NCD on two policies in most cases).
It also gives you the freedom to tailor each policy to suit and find the best insurance company pricewise for each bike.
Dave.

Re: Insurance
Thanks for the responses.
I went with Bennetts in the end and got both bikes covered TPFT for a ridiculous £67. Also the schedule does say that green laning is covered so I'm not being cheeky. The irony is I've now sold the XT350
but that's still half what I was paying previously for the KTM.
