Whilst leading a run to Hindhead on a misty morning last October I was witness to quite a serious Motorcycle accident involving one of my group. I muddled through remembering what I could from previous work related first aid training and thankfully with the help of others, things turned out well.
As a result I was keen to do a Biker Down course, which I was able to complete in January this year.
The course was excellent, delivered in a friendly non intimidating fashion by very knowledgeable people. It provides you with the skills you need to deal with an accident confidently if you find yourself in that situation. I can't recommend the course highly enough.
Biker Down/First Aid training is crucial in dealing with an accident and is provided by the Fire Brigade.
Would anyone be interested in this course?
If so, could you please add your name to this thread.
OK Folks. Friday 24th March has been confirmed, only 16 places available so first come first served for this date and I'll arrange another course for the remainder. Please contact me to ensure your place.

Re: Biker Down/Incident/First Aid Training
Hi Tony, would it be possible to arrange for them to come to Ripley on a club night or is the training too long. Would be good if everyone had an idea of what to do even if it was a basic course.

Hi Steve
The course I attended was at Guildford Fire Station and was about 3 hours. It makes sense for it to be done there as all the kit is on site and it's done in a conference room above the station, not a noisy pub environment.

Might be worth a phone call to see if they would be prepared come down to Ripley even if only to give a talk rather than a course, then people might decide to do the full course. They are quite bike friendly at Guildford Fire Station.

Good point!
However, in the first instance I would like to know how many people might be interested in this course, and then we can figure out the finer details from there, depending on numbers.

Yes i would be up for this, in an ideal world it would be nice to have one person on every run who had a bit of this kind of training.

I'd be up for it.
Also, spoke with LFB at the show on Sunday - they mentioned speaking directly with Guildford Fire station (we know them through the 'ride it right' shows) and arranging things with them?

He he. But sometimes I'm conscious and could give you instructions on how to not make things worse
