I was thinking a shirt and tie with dirt bike trousers.

I didn't know Derek, but sounds like a great guy, sad news and hope you all give him a good send off.
All the best

I will be collecting for the Marie Curie nurses who were a fantastic comfort in Derek’s last days , so don’t forget your wallet’s . Please all come ,it’s Derek’ last TRF run !

I will bring my wallet.

Could the surry group, maybe use some of the group funds (Or do a sponsor day/event) to sponsor a plaque, or sponsor a lane? something along those lines maybe?

Great idea ...

Not a blue plaque ...but perhaps a green plaque

Thank you again to all who contributed to the collection at club night last week. This has now been passed on to Phyllis Tuckwell Mem.Hos.Ltd, the family’s chosen charity.

Steve, would you share his Funeral Zone Obituary to Surrey TRF Facebook page?

Edited post. Gary, I made the donation direct to the charity from their own website.

In Memory of Derek Vansittart

Postby stevent » Thu Nov 01, 2018 7:05 pm

All

I’ve had this message from Melanie at Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care.

Look forward to seeing those of you who can make it tomorrow (let’s make it a good turn out!).

Steven

Dear Steven

Thank you for your generous donation of £220 in loving memory of Derek Vansittart. Your kind support of the work of Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care is greatly appreciated.

I hope that this short message <
> will show you just how important your incredible help in Derek’s memory is to us. To put it in perspective, your wonderful gift is enough to cover the cost of a year’s supply of ingredients for our cookery group – part of our ‘Living Well’ activities, aimed at making the most of life and increasing well-being and confidence in patients
Thank you once again for your kindness and generosity.

Kindest regards

Melanie

Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away to the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
That, we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way
which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect.
Without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was.
There is absolute unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?

I am but waiting for you.
For an interval.
Somewhere. Very near.
Just around the corner.

All is well.

Nothing is past; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before only better, infinitely happier and forever we will all be one together with Christ.

Laura has sent this to us:

Thank you for everything today and please pass on my thanks to everyone who brought their bike down and helped make today such a memorable one. The kids and I were blown away!

Derek would have been chuffed! Xxx
