got hold of an electric mountain bike and have to say its amazing.
all those old lanes are now rideable again ... nice to ride over the TRO'd green lanes from epsom race course down to box hill again - tho they are very muddy after the illegal 4x4's have chewed them up

Re: joining the dark side
I'm in the process of converting my MTB to a rear wheel electric bike. 2000w with a 58v battery.
Must be careful with my right thumb...
Thanks

Re: joining the dark side
Picked up a full suspension emtb about a year ago - a little sceptical, but turned out to be awesome fun! Not cheap - yiu could get a tidy second hand trail bike for the price. Pulls like cray, will climb anything and cuts through mud with no issues - my standard mtb would bog out.
Front wheel off and in the back of the car - go ride anywhere, no fuss. Been riding Holmbury and Pitch hill single tracks - I’ll get 3/4 runs on the emtb than my standard bike - great fun. Downside I have had more wipe outs in the last year on the emtb than in the last 10 years in the dirt bike - less weight, more power and sketchy skills not a great combination !

I saw the light and bought a emtb a little while ago too. Great fun, and gets you out on lanes and tracks that you never knew existed.
I feel a group ride coming on!

Re: joining the dark side
I bought a full bouncer e-bike nearly 7 years ago now due to ill health at the time and came from mountain biking to trail riding a couple of years ago.
They are great fun, although there is some negativity in the cycling world against them from hard core cyclists, who seem to miss the point on what they represent.
The plus for me is it's similar to riding a motorbike on the trails, but there are way less restrictions on where you can ride legally and there is a lot of riding in the surrey hills if you know where to find the trails.
So as Kev said a group ride could be on the cards. I'm quite happy to show some trails on Holmbury hill Pitch hill, leith hill. If anyone is interested when the lockdown is over.

Yep I’d be up for a group ride after lock down - does get busy at weekends on Holmbury and Pitch hill, early start recommended! Always good to have people around to pick you up

I've succumbed as well. It really hurt the wallet but I figured I've probably saved that amount in not visiting pubs or restaurants this year. The 75 miles of Byways in Surrey are shrinking year by year but with 750 miles of Bridleways - the world is my oyster !!! (or something like that) I'd be up for a ride post lockdown

I feel a leith hill group photo coming on !!
was out on the emtb on sunday with a mate on here and we DID see some ACTUAL real green roaders using the lanes so good on them to keep the byways alive !
but some of the lanes are so flat I see people are driving vans up them !

Can someone collect the run fee please.
Looks like Kev is the run leader.
Could be a whole new income stream for us.
