OS Maps Surrey Area

Postby Simmysimpkins » Tue Jan 28, 2014 8:09 am

Does anybody know where I can buy OS maps of Surrey. I live in Epsom. We've lost all our old bookshops over the past years. Would WH Smiths stock them?

Is there a particular type/scale of map I should buy for trial riding?

Cheers guys.

If you have a smart phone look at view ranger. You can get os maps on it, record and import rides and has gps function so you can follow the routes. Better than paper maps as they can't get wet and soggy!!

WH Smith should have OS maps relevant to your area.

You can buy direct from OS, most online book retailers and of course, theifbay.

If there's a Blacks outdoor shop, they normally have a rack with them all in, as said you can also download mapping apps such as View Ranger, Map my ride, Stars, lots of features and you can download other routes, but a paper map will give you a better idea of the lay of the land, I use 25'000 scale, and will never go flat or lose it's signal.
Off the beaten track!.

Waterstones have maps.

The list on which ones is on our website, find the box half way down
http://www.surreytrf.org.uk/new-members ... questions/

You need to choose between Explorer which are 1:25000 and Landranger 1:50000. I prefer Explorer as you can see more detail, but you need more of them as you're soon off the end of the map.

Cheers guys. Got the maps I needed from waterstones and marked them up at the club night. I will try those apps on the smartphone and see if they are easy to use in practice.
