A while back I read a translated Italian article where the ITA Honda chief let slip a rumour about an up coming Africa Twin.
Obviously I took it with a pinch of salt and remained hopeful. But a recent Google search to see if there was any movement on this lead me to this page which details Honda's recent registration of 'Africa Twin' as a trademark in the USA. One can only assume, being that Honda don't manufacture the AT and haven't done fore years, that they will be relaunching the model again in the next few years.
If rumours are to be believed the AT will appear this October at the INTERMOT show.
Personally I would love to see the AT make a come back. I had a TA and it was an unbelievable machine from the 80's which kept me going happily for over 5 years solid. When Honda do build something I feel they normally put a lot of effort into designing it with a specific application in mind so I can't wait to see what they come up with using modern tech.
Wonder if they'll do another Vee <3

Re: Africa Twin 2015
Image is a concept.

No Vee in the works, looks like a straight 2 engine. I'm loving all the speculation!
One thing I noted recently was that Honda have just patented a new air filter design which will allow the petrol tank to sit within the frame, lowing centre of gravity by fitting the airfilter system externally.

This was a particularly good read and unbias bringing all the speculation together: http://idratherberiding.com/2014/05/13/ ... n-is-back/
Sounds like if rumors are to be believed as they generally are these days, with constant leaks to spread interest, the bike will handle touring whilst being adept off road. Cheaper and lighter than an F800GS, a capable tourer and an adept machine off road.

I've been waiting for Honda to do this for years. I always wanted an AT but couldn't afford one (being that they held their money so well for such an old bike with old tech) so ended up with a much cheaper Transalp for nearly 6 years. Haven't been excited about a bike for a long time

...although it could also wear the CRF1000L moniker.
That name gives away the capacity, that 1,000cc, liquid-cooled motor will be a parallel-twin,...
...And this thing will go off-road. "It's aimed squarely at the KTM 990 Adventure,"...

Really nice - but not sure you could cross a continent on one of these without giving yourself a serious case of piles! Seat looks hard as fek... Still I would have one straight away!

Yeah I agree. That's what ppl have said about some KTM's when touring. But there's usually someone to make an aftermarket seat.
