Transport to the ride out (new member post)

Postby Sporadic_kit » Fri Mar 21, 2014 3:32 pm

Quick question guys,

I plan on getting into trail riding this summer but was wondering about the best way to get my bike to the meeting place.

Im thinking its probably better not to ride it down because it may develop a fault whilst out (then im stuck) and I will not be in the mood to ride it back (tired).

So the only solution is to get a trailer and a vehicle thats good for towing. I just wanted to know how many other riders bring down their bikes on a trailer and how many riders actually ride to the meeting place?

Hope to see you all soon
Cheers,
Lewis

I drive a transit to the place :)
Gear up and ride then get back load up and drive home in a bit of comfort :)

With the greatest of respect mate, if your bike is going to break down on the way to a lane you should probably get another bike.

It really depends on the type of bike you have or are going to get, I think it's fair to say that most folk will Van or trailer to the start point unless it's a local run, but if you've been out on a run all day and your wet and tired, the last thing you will want to do is ride back, much better to throw it in the van and you also have somewhere to get changed in to so dry gear for the drive home.
If a run is aimed at bigger traille type bike, I normally ride down :D .
Off the beaten track!.

I'll be getting a KTM 625 SMC...

Its not gonna develop a fault getting to the ride, im concerned about it developing a fault whiles on the ride!

Im sure I won't be in the mood to ride it back. I'll be in the market for a trailer then to tow with a Jeep :)

I use both options depending on the time involved. If I can ride to a start point in 30 to 45 minutes then I will. You might need to wrap up a bit in the winter though; easy to get frozen through blatting along at road speeds. I keep a dry pair of gloves for the toddle home.

Any more than 45 mins, I chuck the bike and all my sh*t in the van.
