Notice of TRF Heritage Event

An event will be held to commemorate 48 years of the TRF at the Valiant Trooper, Aldbury
14th and 15th January 2018
This is a two-day event organised by the Heritage Director, Steve Neville, to commemorate 48 years since the formation of the TRF in 1970.and prepare for the TRF's 50-anniversary event in 2020.

AGENDA
Thursday 14th –
Trail ride to cover some of the lanes the inaugural group rode in 1970. Because it’s January this will start around 10:00 and end around 15:00.
We can arrange to book a table at a nearby restaurant. Accommodation also available in the Greyhound hotel nearby.

Friday 15th
10:00 - Arrival and registration
10:30 - Welcome address by Heritage Director Steve Neville SJN
10:40 - State of the nation and TRF report – Directors
10:50 - History of the TRF; its antecedents (ACU/BMF etc) and foundation in the early days. 38 years in the TRF -; some anecdotes and a video from Kent and the South East. – SJN
11:10 - Recollections of a founder member (s)TBA
11:30 - Coffee break
11-50 – Archiving - TRF documents and photos covering over 50 years- Demonstration of scanning to PDF with OCR. Also, the creation of a digital photo library of trail riding in the pre-digital photo age. Basically the 20th century. SJN
12:10 - Fighting the threats in the early days. Countryside Act 1968 onwards to CROW and NERC. TBC
12-40 Alan Kind or other guest speaker TBC
LUNCH
2:00 Plans for 2020 commemorative event and discussion.
2:20 Video interviews for archive and informal session.
