Re: New member - Camberley, Surrey
Thanks Kev.
I have it diarised.
At least I have a few months to completely strip & rebuilt my bike. Hopefully no bottom end work required, but I'll only find out once I have removed my Jug. What I do know is that I'll be cleaning out the KIPS and putting a Wiseco piston in, before Xmas.

Looking for the basic requirements for a new rider joining up.
Helmet, Gloves, Enduro Boots, Jacket with protection. Bike, Spare plugs, full tank, extra 2T oil, hydration kit, basic toolkit, cash, energy and stamina.
Anything else? I'm willing to take advice...

Knee pads... most definitely.
Most go for body armour and armoured shorts under mx or enduro clothing. This tends to give more coverage and be better-placed than armour inside a jacket. Having body armour also means you can vary your top layer depending on the weather, i.e. waterproof and insulated in winter or light and breathable in summer. 2 pairs of gloves is not a bad idea when its wet and muddy, it gives you a second chance at dry hands after the first off into a puddle.
Don't forget some form of recovery (AA, greenflag etc) in case you can't fix something on the trail. Duck tape and cable ties always useful on the trail.... and even some spare bolts as 2t's can shake stuff loose. I've had to replace my exhaust bolt twice on the trails (it does help checking everything before the ride too!).

Re: New member - Camberley, Surrey
Update
Rebuilt the top end with a new Wossner piston kit and wrist pin bearing. KIPS complete overhaul. Rear brake caliper completely rebuilt. Brakes bled front & rear. Rear axle, swingarm and linkage bearings all cleaned out and repacked. Carburettor stripped and rebuilt. Changed droplinks for Kouba links (I'm a shortarse). Dropped front forks 1/2" to balance the geometry. No Toil filter oil and cleaner highly recommended.
Started first kick and have bed the rings in. Ready to go now...
