Horrible news to hear. He lead my first TRF run. As someone else said, the longest day run sticks in my mind too.
Will be much missed.
Paul.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for letting us know, I've often thought about him as the months have gone by and knew it was only a matter of time. I'll really miss Derek as he was the best example of the true meaning of fellowship.
RIP Mudeevee

Re: Mudevee
A great loss to all who knew and rode with Derek.
Although he was unwell last November he still found the time to help me out with arranging the curry night and turn it into the success it was, but that was the type of guy he was.
His passing will leave a big hole in the Surrey TRF.

This is the saddest news I've ever read. Derek was such a decent guy and has left me with nothing but good memories. He did so much for all of us. Lucky to have met him. He was one of people I most looked forward to hanging out with on my times away with the trf and I will miss him.
Love him. I'm sorry for his fam and all of us.

Re: Mudevee
Dear All,
Laura has requested that we attend Derek's funeral by motorcycle. A fitting tribute to such an outstanding gentleman and true fellow of our group.
Those of you who can attend, we will meet at 11.00am on Friday November 2nd at Newlands Corner café leaving at 11.40 sharp for the short ride to Derek's house. Laura would like us to accompany Derek to the funeral which will take place at 1.30pm.
Further details are on Facebook. I will post an update nearer the time.
Please come if you can. Derek contributed so much to cause of Trail Riding and as so many have said will be sorely missed by the Surrey group.

Re: Mudevee
So sad to hear this news.
I bumped into him a few times at hospital while my wife was having treatment so was aware of his situation.
In May I bought some tyres and bits and bobs and having learnt that my wife had died, he offered that if I ever just needed someone to talk to, to give him a shout.
He was such a thoroughly decent chap.
Unfortunately I will not be able to attend his funeral but my thoughts are with his family and friends.
