Event cancelled - 3 stage trial April 19th
Event cancelled due to perceived noise issues. All entries will be refunded.
Aldermaston Nomads 3 Stage Pathfinder Trial Bagshot area D1&2
This is a unique event which I am helping to run this year as the organisers are getting on a bit. In previous years me, Derek, Mudevee, GDAS, Colin, Gavin and others have all taken part and thoroughly enjoyed it, don't take my word for it ask them.
For anyone who doesn't want to ride it formally we will need observers and travelling marshalls, we could also do with a hand setting the event out on the Saturday, so a free days riding for anyone who volunteers for this!
The day is divided into 3 stages - each slightly more difficult than the last. You ride a course and encounter some trials sections on route. Last year the first stage was a lap in an hour or so.
Next stage, more laps, less time per lap, but the sections are opened up
Last stage, more enduro that trials. Again a couple of laps, less time. This time you just need to go through each section start gate.
All this is might sound complicated but in reality it isn't, I would say any Surrey TRF member would get round and have a fun day out. It's very sociable, no pressure and really well put together event.
ACU trials licence required (£10 for year), no tyre restrictions.
Entries open on 7th February, details and entry form here soon: http://aldermaston-nomads.org/ and info here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1401831 ... ar&fref=nf
Thanks
Kev
Here is Derek's (Chopper) report from last years event:
I took part in this event yesterday and have to say it was one of my best biking days out. As a novice I had to complete six laps which were 5.5 miles each. The first stage was two laps with 10 reasonably tight trials sections, all to be completed within 2 hours. The second stage was two laps again but with the trials sections opened up (much easier) and completion within 1.5 hours. Finally the third stage was two laps (novice) to be completed in 1 hour but just ride through the entry gate of each section.
The riding was mainly technical single track through woods but with lots of long steep climbs and descents. Challenging yes, but nothing impossibly hard, otherwise I would not of completed! Unfortunately there was only 68 entries and the event made a £250 loss. There was talk yesterday that the event will never take place again which would be an absolute shame.
With less and less legal places to ride our bikes and an opportunity like yesterday is available, it is a real shame it was so poorly attended. There is no need to change to trials tyres, it's on our doorstep, its fantastic riding and quite honestly a great chance to ride some different terrain on a really well thought out lap/route.
Anyway I thoroughly recommend it and just hope I get a chance to do it again.

Hey Kevin
You are spot on. Great event that needs support.
I even put this on the surrey 2015 calendar ( yet to be published)!
More than happy to help with setup and marshalling. Fairly sure we can get a few others to help out. Just need some more Surrey TRF people to come out and have a great day of riding.
Get signed on people!

Sounds good, happy to help out to, provided the wife has not got me booked for anything...

Hi Kev,
Been looking at doing one of these, and this being beginner friendly, seems right up my street. I'd like to give it a go and will make a note to sign up when available on the website.
The ACU license, where do you need to apply for one of those?
How much do you pay to do the trial (assume it's not included in the cost of the license!)?
Is there parking for car/trailers etc? Bring your own food/drink or is there catering on site?

Chaps,
Thanks for all the offers of support, great stuff.
Corky,
You can apply for a licence here:
https://members.acu.org.uk/Secure/Login.aspx
You just need a trials licence which is £10.00 for the year, you do however need affiliation to an ACU registered club to get the licence. The Witley club do online membership registration which is £10 for the year.
Link here:
http://www.witleymcc.org/membership-online.htm
Entry to the event is £33.00
I realise this does add up but the more events you do then the cheaper it is, there are a lot of othe LDT's throughout the year and once the bug has bitten!
Lots of safe parking on site.
Catering and loos also (very important).
Any more questions, fire away.
See you there.
Kev

Kev,
I will definitely be signing up to take part again.
With regards costs, to put it into perspective, it's still cheaper than an Enduro Kent day and you have the licence and affiliated club membership for the rest of the year

Hi all
I'll definitely be signing up for this again. Last year was fantastic,a great day out.
So come on Surrey Trf let's support a local event. 3 Stage trials have something for everyone,
the 1st being more trialsy and the 3rd much more Enduro.
See you there!
