Hi,
I spoke with someone at club night, few weeks ago (Brian?) who own an XT250. I bought recently a Japan grey import XT250 2009, fuel injection.
I need to buy some parts and set up the bike for off road. I need specifically levers (both side) clutch cable, new handlebar and hand guard etc...
Is there any vendor in the UK or Europe for XT 250 parts or should I import stuff from the US or Japan? http://www.webike.com has everything but a bit tedious to import from Japan....
Any advice most welcome.
Thanks,
Maria

They seam to get all of the import stuff ( they have for me in the past anyway)

Re: XT250 Serow parts?
A lot of the consumable parts on the XT are interchangeable with others in the range, bars, hand guards and the like just get after market from eBay or other on-line suppliers.
A great resource for all things Yamaha or just off road stuff is Moto Ward in Rudgwick http://www.motoward.co.uk/
Other good links for parts -

Cmsnl has all the blown up diagrams and part numbers, I hope this helps

Stewie and John, thanks a lot for the advice and links.
I will get Alistair to investigate those, so we can fix and set up my bike so it is more off road ready
I absolutely love to ride my Serow off road. It is a brilliant bike for me

Maria, how tall are you and how are you finding the 250? I'm looking at options for a trail bike for Kelly and was considering a Serrow but was hoping to find something newer than the 225.

Re: XT250 Serow parts?
Dave, i am 1.63m (on a good day) with about 78 cm inside legs and small feet (size 4 1/2).
The XT250 is absolutely perfect size for me.
I Only had it for few weeks but LOVE it!
best bike ever, so easy to ride through mud and trails and very forgiving! It is the first bike i ever have that i did not have to modify (ie tinker to lower it!)
The 225 is quite old. Mine is grey import from Japan, 2009 fuel injection, with tubeless rear wheel, pretty much similar the the US models i guess?
The shop i got it from is: http://motorcyclegiant.net/ (west London)
They had three XT250 on sale, one 2012 that sold immediately, the 2009 (mine) and an older 2004.
Cheers,
Maria

Re: XT250 Serow parts?
hi. yes we did speak, I do have an older( 1991) Serow. Glad you like the bike, and glad the size/ weight is good too. parts. well bars are univeal more or less. Try Renthals, they come in various rise heights, and you can cut them down if too wide, although personally I never do that. You can buy these online, or in almost any good bike shop. levers, well any Yamaha dealer can sell you these, or you could fit the after- market shorter spring loaded type, I use these on another bike, which work well, slightly costly, but being flexible, vtend not to break so easily. also remember not to overtighten the lever clamps, so if you go have an off, the levers move round on the bar, rather than snap. handguards. I use barkbusters, they also come in various patterns, check that the shape you select clears your levers, although you can usually fiddle this a little to make the guard work. you can get these too at any decent bike shop,
Whatever you do, fit quality genuine branded stuff only always. the cheaper imitation stuff is not worth anything. moto ward in rudgwick are yamaha agents, and have all this stuff. but there are many others too, one Yamaha dealer also in woking, I forget the name. cheers, enjoy! brian c

Hi Maria
I may be taller @ 1.7 (5ft 7 Inches) with size 39 feet (5 1/2), but I wish I had your long legs.

Mine are 72cm (28.5 inches) so I need a Step Ladder to get on most Trail Bikes and a Parachute to get off.

But I am very good at diving into water.

So I love my 25 year old XT225 Serow too.

Half Goat, half Antelope.
