Mike,

You will find that most clubs are really friendly so maybe just pick one close to you.

I am currently a member of Hookwoods club, £15.00 for the year, which is about average, which also gets you access to their trials centre in West Clandon for practice at £20 for the day, lots there for all abilities. I have ridden the TVTC trials series with them for a couple of years. The club itself though is not that active.

So for a change I am just about to join the RRND (Reigate, Redhill and North Downs) club as well, who seem very active. Riding my first trial with them tomorrow at Beare Ghyll near Dorking.

Regarding a bike a 250 is more than enough with Beta probably being the most popular. The Beta Rev 200 is a very good entry level bike.

Call me for any more info or pop down to Beare Ghyll in the morning.

Kev,
Thanks for the swift reply, exactly what I was after.
As I live near Epsom my local club will be RRND, and we will join in the new year.

Can't make Beare Ghyll today as have prior arrangements, but will try to make next one.

Will give you a bell next week or so.

Cheers Mike

also worth checking out Surrey Schoolboy Trials Club, Eddie Renham featured on this video https://youtu.be/Vll7BMqP3Ac runs practice days on the 2nd Saturday of the month at Brackendene nr Chertsey, usually 8 sections with 2 routes, the afternoon sessions are for the kids and the morning sessions for the adults. I sometimes go along for the morning session and it costs me £8. It's always a very friendly atmosphere with people generally happy to give helpful advice.

Mike,

I'm thinking of getting into the Trials scene in the next couple of months and wondered how you got on with your plan to join the RRND and get yourself into the sport.
I'm based in Haslemere so there are clubs that are closer, but if the RRND are a good active club then I may check them out as well as the local ones.
I would also be interested in which bikes you ended up getting.
Cheers,
Peter.

Peter

To be honest, haven't made it down there yet.
Free weekends are hard to come by at the moment.
Work, unfortunately gets in the way of a lot of things.
Bike wise, I was thinking 250 Beta Rev 3 or Evo.

Kev

So after a year of RRND ... you sticking or twisting ?

Still loving the trials but only seem to get to wobblers at sidcup and a bit of betchworth quarry ... but tempted to do a few more formal trials next year

Just renewed my membership with RRND, lots of club trials and Star Group so at least two trials a month to choose from.

Next club trial is on Sunday, all welcome, hopefully see you there.
Kev

Sunday 31st
Club Trial at Blacklands Farm, Grinstead Lane, East Grinstead, West Sussex RH19 4HP starting 11am.

Oh my god Mouseman I am so very sorry, this is your post and I'm having a real bad hair day.....

Thought I'd share my pics because I was/am happy that yesterday happened and join one or two clubs, also gives you alternatives.
Then I tried to delete or edit the reply and somehow had repeated it twice and then half of it came on the third time, where as the third time was meant to be the first reply....I'm so sorry....can someone delete my replies to this post please?
