More problems wth bike

Postby BevH » Sat Apr 20, 2013 5:34 pm

Hello. Have another problem with my Beta Alp! Finished ride the other week and when I set off to come home bike started to stutter and thought it ws going to break down. Better the higher up the gears and wth speed. Took to Fins in Redhill and he drained carb and replaced spark plug but still the same. He said it feels like its losing its spark and may go completely. Any thoughts? He said I shld contact dealer I gt from as unfamiliar wth bike - its a Suzuki engine. Tks Bev

Get on the dealer you bought it from. It's not been right since you bought it! Is this a similar problem to what you had before?

I agree with Colin, you should chase your dealer.

Any kind of electrical faults shouldn't be happening with a bike that new. :/

Maybe the spark plug lead is damaged from a fall or water?

Remember when my bike had starting issues Steve and it turned out to be the HT lead? Was the last thing I'd have thought of and did think of.

Beta Alp have problems with water entering the side stand switch 'as do most trail bikes' but not enduro bikes as they do not have these switch's, you will have to bypass this switch or remove it from the stand and tuck it under the seat.

Yeah Steve sounds right to me. especially as on our ride out recently Bev said it would start with start gas.

What we know:

- runs better at higher revs
- spark is ok
- cleaning carb did nothing
- Occasionally has starting issues
- starts when using start spray (was this you or someone else?)

What to check next:

- carburettor pilot system
- - play with adjuster screws first
- - play with jetting second

Anyone else want to add to this or suggest otherwise, like i was thinking removing the air filter would increase air flow and might help determine if its running rich

It broke down yesterday. AA man couldn't get it going and said it might be somethig to do with the coil, but wasn't sure. Getting it picked up tomorrow, hopefully, and so will find out exactly what's wrong with it. I'm hoping it will be all fixed for Saturday. Bev
