Ok so time has come to have a look for some pads - anyone used any of these?
Kyoto or Goldfren or EBC
I normally use Brembo and always worked well for me in the past, but not cheap.
cheers

The usual story applies Charlie. Buy cheap buy twice! I bought a set of front and rear SBS brake pads which lasted 3 rides, yes, 3 rides! Now got a set of EBC's fitted, the difference is night and day! If the Brembos are cheaper than £35 for a set of fronts and backs then stick with them dude.

Surely it will depend on choice of compound? I used SBS in my race bike and would usually get a minimum of 2 meetings out of them...... 2 practice days, and a minimum of 8 races. They would then get relegated to my road bike for commuting for another c.4000 miles. And they get some hammer as as well....ask Mr. Edwards

Re: brake pads
I recommend sintered pads, they last much longer. most manufacturers make them.

If pads are only lasting you 3 rides you are braking too much dude

I put a wavey disc on the front and found that cut down my wear massively, probably coz there's no mud in the nonexistant disc holes acting as abrasive. Just a guess.

Re: brake pads
Tried goldfren as recommended by tri county - pile of C*4p Lasted two outings. Not hammered as I ride like a girl. Won't be getting them again. EBC ones on the way.

I have been using Goldfren pads for as long as I can remember and find they offer good value. There is always a trade off with pads; soft pads give great breaking but wear fast, hard pads last for ever but don't offer great friction or they wear the disc.
A lot also depends on the conditions you're riding in. I've done a busy season of trail riding including a few races on a set of pads or one lap of an an enduro at Weavers Down in the rain. Rears last maybe three times longer than fronts for me.
Most manufacturers offer a couple or more compounds make sure you get the right one.
