Evening all, being a Tiger rider I'm interested to know who else takes their big Bike out on the trails even if it's just a bit of gravel.
How about a show of hands and say what you ride?

Re: Big Bike Riders
Evening,
I have part-exchanged my Varadero 125 with a X Clhallenge, and will be trying it on some light trails this weekend... check this post in other forum: http://www.adventurebikerider.com/forum ... 00hrs.html
I still need to fit proper knobblies on it, but afterwards I will try to join another ride with the great people that you can find around here
.... time and wife permitting.
Last time there was someone with a GSA (Steve, I think... apologies in advance if I have your name wrong), and he was doing it great!
Cheers,
Gonzalo

Re: Big Bike Riders
Hi Gonzo!
I'd imagine that the trade in value of your Varadero was much reduced after riding with us lot. Fantastic effort for getting round/over/under/through some of the Surrey obstacles we lined up for you. Good luck with the X Challenge:)
As for rides on slightly weightier bikes, Stewie and Zedtours arrange these fairly regularly. Watch for their posts and enjoy.
Lastly, don't forget to become a fully paid up member of the TRF. You will benefit in the long term.
Thanks
Derek

Re: Big Bike Riders
Hi Derek,
Yep, 200 quid less for the fairing panels... I did well changing the fairing frame and lever beforehand!
It was a great and comfy bike, and very cheap to run (excepting when riding with you ;-D )
Good tip about joining the TRF. I have never regretted it, this being my second year, as it has given me the opportunity of meeting great people on great rides...

I would say most of the guys with bigger bikes (those bigger than 600cc - though generally no panzas as the cylinders get ground down on the sides of the ruts

When I had my tenere 660 (certainly not a light bike) I could do probably 90% of everything in Surrey / Hants / Wilts.

Re: Big Bike Riders
As Gav says, there's not much to bother a bigger bike around Surrey, I ride a Aprilia Pegaso mk3 which in any other name is a commuter made to look like a trallie, as it tops the scales a 200kg dry, but I've been all over on it, currently running K60 silica on the front and back.
There's some great routes down the West Country, for the big tralies, a few of the ABR lads are going on a reccy run in kent tomorrow, and I'm doing a ride on Sunday, but its more road bias with a few easy lanes thrown in the mix.
What sort of routes are you looking to do, as I plan to put a big bike run together soon.
What type of tyres have you got on your bike, hope to see you on the lanes soon.

All good stuff, thanks.
Currently got the horrible stock Scorpion Trails but when they wear out am looking for something a bit more 70/30 (K76's) or even as far as 50/50 (Anakee 3/K60's).
Most of my riding will still be on tarmac for the foreseeable future so do want a tyre that'll still do reasonable mileage before hitting the trails/fire roads.

1000hrs at Rykers for a 1030hrs depart, went out this evening on a route reccy, always fun on the lanes in the dark
