Hi all looking to join the TRF in early January to have some fun on the lanes with you guys I have my new bike ready which is a KTM 450 EXC-R how often to do you meet at Rykas café at boxhill would like to get to know a few of you.

welcome aboard .. keep an eye out for organised rideouts.. they can fill up quite quickly ...but there is a "request a rideout" thread somewhere ....

Make sure your bike is well locked up, as we are having members bikes stolen regularly..

Thanks for informing me about the bike thefts and yes I will be coming to your club meet on the 28th, I've been speaking to another guy called Steve and he's from mitcham also so we'll be popping down together and it will be good to get to know all you guys and im really looking forward to getting out on my new bike.

I have most of my new gear sorted just need to get a good pair of waterproof trousers, what sort of gear do you guys recommend for the lanes?

The short answer is Klim if you can afford it!
I have been using spada adventure gear and it's not bad for the money. IXS is pretty good too.
Tried other crap like wulfsport and it's fails miserably - you may as well wear a tea bag...

The shortest answer is goretex.
If you can afford 500 jackets, go for it. If you cant there're army surpluss stores where you can buy gortex jackets and trousers for 10 quid. The down side is dpm looks do-do without an sa80 to back it up

I've seen that Scott do some, but and I wouldn't pay 500 for a jacket I do have the new Scott jacket in fluro yellow just need some bottoms or over trousers, off to the shops tomorrow....

+1 for goretex I got some German army waterproofs but even they leak in the end!
