South Thames College - Bike Maintenance

Postby Beerbelly » Tue Jan 21, 2014 9:10 am

For those that don't have a clue on basic bike maintenance - like me! I recommend the evening course at Morden. Well explained - great handouts and amazing facilities. Lots of different bikes, tools, tips and most importantly how to do it properly!!

Well worth the £200.

Stripped my first engine down on Monday - surprisingly easy when you know how. Happy to do my own valve clearances and top end work now! Good course - highly recommended for novices like me!

It was on a bench... Not hooked up to anything! Tutor checked it over after. Was set up tdc and valves clearances done. New piston rings and cam chain adjusted. I guess if if was in a bike it should have run!! Will be trying my skills out on my new project I'll keep you posted!! Image
