Hi guys
Many of you know these little bikes and use them as they are a good bang for your buck .
Just thought I'd start a thread to share issues and upgrades for laning
My dad has this bike and has just covered 2000 miles and the front fork seals have gone in quite a big way
Gotta take it back to honda and see what they say

Re: Crf250l
I've had my CRF250L for 18 months and around 3,000 miles now. I get on fine with it although it is a bit of an off road/on road compromise in that it's a little heavy and has less ground clearance than more dedicated off road bikes. Still mostly standard so far but the original tyres are hopeless in mud and replacing those made an incredible difference.

Yes he has had issues of going through sets of brake pads .
He has done the following
Fitted
ac10's
Sump bash plate
Ebc brake pads
Fa465r
Fa629r
R series sintered pads for mud and wet conditions
Good results with these pads so far
Fmf exhaust system
Small led rear light

Re: Crf250l
Use sintered pads. And use good quality pads not rubbish like goldfren but more like EBC - makes a big difference.
I was getting a couple rides out of a set of EBC pads. This is normal for off road use.
Using goldfren they lasted one ride only. Utter rubbish.

The Honda CRF range are normally an excellent choice of bike, I did here somewhere that the 13 model has a few snagging problems......

My last KTM used to eat seals, I fitted those little sleeves and it solved the problem..

Re: Crf250l
I've had my crf250l for a year now and have 12k on it. Not had any problems with seals though. Only think I would say is the hollow tube that the foot peg brackets are welded to are pretty weak, dropping the bike at anything above stationary bends the frame in a little. I use the bike mostly on the road so use trail wings. Not great in mud but if it is relatively dry I find they work well.
Got some acerbis hand guards, a sump guard and handle bar risers. Original handlebars bent so have a renthal bar, just not fitted it yet. I generally pretty happy with it. Good mpg too.
