Bike Normandy is a set up run by a lovely couple ( Jen & John ) and is situated just north of Trun in lower Normandy ( about 2 hours drive south of Dieppe ), they do all sorts of bike tours and short breaks, but it was the Off-Roading that we were there for, and boy did we get our monies worth.
The run leaders are locals with an immeasurable knowledge of the local lanes and there were plenty to chose from, with all sorts of terrain from fast open to very steep chalk climes, and rocky river beds and forest trails, there is a ride leader and a tail gunner ( both local and very capable rider to say the least ) and normally a support van.
So here are a few shots of the weekend and a link to the others.
So we got to BN on the Friday, to a warm welcome and a cold beer, followed by a 4 course meal and some Merlot, well a lot of Merlot, that's what happens when you let Derek sit next to the wine rack

So on to the lanes, and the first stop the guides asked everyone what they wanted to drink, so coffee, coke, water that sort of thing, and they came out with our drinks and some cold beer for them selves and that set the trend for the weekend

Some of the Climes as ever they never look as steep on the pictures, but when your at the bottom looking up, it's steep

Not everyone made it up

But everyone mucked in to help one and other.

Great food plays a big part in the weekend, but you may have to sleep it off before hitting the lanes

After lunch of Steak, Chips and Salad back on the lanes and more great climes and water, yep plenty of water

Everyone safely to the top

Some shots of the woodland lanes.

Some of the more muddy lanes

Just don't stop in the middle

Back to BN and they have a great set up with 2 pressure washers and a well lit barn for the all important maintenance for the next days riding

So all cleaned and prepped, inside for another 4 course meal with all the wine and beer you can handle and after a full day on the lanes that's not a lot once the big comfy sofas start calling

Back on the lanes the next day, starting from BN this time.

Another great lunch stop, everyone thought after yesterday with the Desperate Dan size Steak, it was nice to have a help your self cold meats and cheeses with fresh bread, so after having there fill, you can imagine their supprise when they found out it was just the starter, and out came more Steak and Pommes followed by the compulsory Crepes

More great routes in the afternoon

All back in one piece

Some of the Views from BN and the villages that we stopped in.

Some of the whoops moments

The area is full of History as you can imagine, so we stopped off to see a few on the way back to the ferry, as well as a stop off in Honfluer

Honfluer-

The Big Bridge, Pont de Normandie

The day before we were due to arrive, John from BN managed to to fall off the barn roof and break both of his ankles so Jen had to do all the work ( so no change there then

Thanks to everyone that made the weekend such a success, with the great banter and company, and as ever the fantastic hospitality from Jen and John at BN

I will definitely be back to do another off-road weekend.
Oh and a big up to Derek, who I can reveal now that went through the whole weekend with a Bad Leg and not a peep about it
