It's the age-old question, sorry for asking it again...I'm on the lookout for a trail bike to use and abuse and get some experience on. I can't afford a lot, maybe about £1000-1200 max. (assuming I can put some pennies away over the coming months...) It seems that all the popular trailies are very rare at cheap prices, so that rules out anything KTM/Husq/Yamaha.
It's been a while since I rode a 125 and I can't remember just how gutless they are. I'm 5'10" and about 15 stone, so I'm worried about the poor little thing being able to haul my lardy bum up the slightest incline. Having said that, I know I don't want some 50HP beast (already got one of them)
What's peoples opinions on maybe finding a DT125? Alternatively DR350s come in quite cheap, but is this going to be too heavy and powerful?
I don't want to buy something I'm going to outgrow after a week, and don't mind doing my own spannering to an extent.
Any thoughts welcome

Have a look for a TTR 250, they seem a popular first bike, 125 is probably a bit small. I`ve ridden a TTR and they are ok but not sure how much they go for. If you wanna try a 2 stroke the CRM 250 is a good choice if you can find one, good luck.

XR250's look around that price and are a good bike.
Not had one myself but know a man who did who was sorry to see his go when he was forced to sell for financial reasons.

Me too, I wish I had been in the position to keep mine as a spare.

Hi Chris,
What about his one http://www.adventurebikerider.com/forum ... 0&start=10 ? I am not sure if it has already been sold, though. Also, don't know if it has the magic button or it is a kick start only.
Good luck with the purchase!
