So was that the e-mail she had received, or one that she had penned herself?

there was nothing official in it - so I assumed she penned it herself......
Not had a chance to speak with SCC - any volunteers?

hmmm.....they've just carved quite a good MTB track in the woods by that lane and a rider was carted away by the paramedics with suspected spinal (but they always suspect that) a couple of weeks ago, maybe it was that she saw. So is it officially closed or not? I have ridden past the stranded vehicles though...so she ain't lying about that!

Re: crockers lane/leith hill BY527
Called SCC highways people today and enquired about the road closure at Leith Hill Road (Byway 527).
The only record they have is in relation to a gas leak that was reported and fixed on 1st April (odd date - was it laughing gas). The site should be cleared by 3rd April.
Nothing else going on in that area and no closures.
If anyone is out and about in the area on thurs/Fri this week - can they see if the Road Closed signs are still up? If they are we can get it reported to SCC.
SteveS/Mike/StevenT - can you speak to your contacts and see if there is anything different going on?
Thanks
Derek

If the council don't know about it, should be fine, might still get arrested, but could sue because the popo didn't check... Sounds like a win win.

Hi,
Hannah Gutteridge, Surrey CC, Countryside Access Officer, has confirmed that the road is closed and Highways department are dealing with it, as it is classed as a D road. The hole has been caused by a spring and it isn't safe for any traffic at the moment.
I have asked if they will put up notices as well.
So please do not use this Byway
